Week 12 Recap & Suggested Assignments

Well, we made it!!  12 weeks down! Enjoy the break.

I want to say thank you for the gifts.  I appreciate your thinking of me this season!  You are all so sweet!!!! :)

IN REVIEW:
~~GRAMMAR~~

Everyone ROCKED in our games today! I'm in awe of how much your grammar knowledge has grown!!  You all have really "stepped up to the plate" in getting your grammar facts down.

That being said....please remember that you have taken in a great deal of information, and sometimes, all of the different definitions can blur together. That's okay! That simply means you have the data in your mind. If you continue to practice, it will all fall into the appropriate categories. DO NOT GIVE UP! I guarantee that you have no idea how much you have accomplished in 12 weeks. It is SO impressive- as are the compositions you've been turning in.
In many ways, you are doing the work of a high school student!!

~~WRITING~~
We read our reports on the Wonders of the Ancient World - again - how impressive!  You're doing well and really incorporating those stylistic techniques!

SUGGESTED ASSIGNMENTS:

PARENT NOTE:  The break is a good time go back and complete grammar (in EEL guide, OMT or Grammar & Diagramming book) or writing assignments that you missed or were unable to complete.  Also, to really focus on mastery of the grammar terms & information on the mastery charts. Also a good time to dig a little deeper on those areas your child has mastered.

~~GRAMMAR~~
I know we are all anxious for a break; however, I do encourage you to review your Mastery Charts just to keep the information fresh!

Verbs - Chart C & D
Review all previous mastery charts - continue to work towards mastery of each chart.

Corresponding OMT lessons 23-24

GRAMMAR CHALLENGE:  Spend 10 minutes 5 days a week (total of 3 weeks over break) reviewing your mastery charts.  For each week I will award 10 points (total possible points = 30) - have your parents track this

~~WRITING~~

1. Take Quiz 2.  Continue to review all previous vocabulary.

No "official" writing assignment over the break. I do encourage you to start to explore your Faces of History person.  Start reading books about and researching the person you are interested in doing your report on.  You'll be picking 3 topics about that person (i.e. early childhood, accomplishments etc) to write on so make sure you can find enough information on the person you choose.  If you decide on someone, please shoot me an email so we don't have duplicates.

I will miss you all!  I pray you all have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving & Christmas.  Remember the "reason for the season" & serve someone who really needs it.  I'll see you after break!  Mrs. C. :)
