Greetings parents & students!! You are preparing to embark upon a journey of grammar & writing. I look forward to coming along side you in that journey. Although the road may seem daunting at times, fear not! We have our EEL guide to show us the way. And the reward is priceless....KNOWLEDGE!
Each week, I will post a recap of our lessons, suggested assignments, and modification ideas. I will also occasionally post a CHALLENGE on the page, which will be worth points or a sweet treat.
Remember - in weeks 1 & 2 we will talk about everything we're going to learn this year - dumping out all those grammar "puzzle pieces". It will feel very overwhelming. Bear with me and hang tight!! In week 3 we'll start to digest the individual pieces of the grammar puzzle. Parents - be sure to review the weekly lesson in your guide prior to coming to class. Write down any questions you may have so that if they aren't answered in class, you can be sure to ask.
GENERAL -
Students will need to bring a pencil, dry erase marker, their class notebook (have some notebook paper for note-taking & student mastery charts from the "Gear" section in the EEL guide), SRN (student resource notebook), & the Ancietn History-Based Writing lessons (student book). Parents will need your EEL guide & Ancient History Based Lessons (teacher book) as well as your TWSS binder. We'll get to know each other during an introduction exercise. :)
ENGLISH GRAMMAR -
The first 2 weeks are primarily an overview of the program. We'll discuss the sentence structures, purposes & patterns and review the parts of speech.
WRITING -
We'll chat about "Structure" & "Stylistic Techniques", warm up talking about & brainstorming adjectives, alliteration, strong verbs & ly words as a group. Be sure to bring your SRN!
WRITING SCHEDULE -
Week 1 - Ancient History Based Writing Lessons - Lesson 1 & 2
Week 2 - TWSS Unit I & II; Ancient History Based Writing Lessons - Lesson 3
Week 3 - TWSS Unit I & II; Ancient History Based Writing Lessons - Lesson 4
Week 4 - TWSS Unit III; Ancient History Based Writing Lesson - Lesson 9
I can't wait to see you all on Tuesday!
